Black SheepJiu Jitsu

Black Sheep is a high-level jiu-jitsu academy tucked into Fairfax, CA — a sleepy, funky town northwest of San Francisco. It's home to multiple world-class champions, with a distinct style that matches the surf-and-skate roots of its local founders. The brand was already there: a well-established school of jiu-jitsu and a hand-drawn logo by a local tattoo artist. The only things missing were a website and an automated membership system.As the resident tech guy, I set out to build a site that lived up to the brand and the vision of the people who founded it — one that stays true to its California-local feel even as the academy has grown past 150 members. Working closely with head coach and owner Woolf Barnato — a former world champion and a Marin kid himself — I executed on his vision while pushing past what he thought was possible. Through Outseta's integration with Framer, sign-ups, billing, and member email now run themselves, so he can focus on teaching and growing the academy.
